YELLOW COWBOY HAT

If it hadn’t been for that night

I don’t know if I would’ve made it out alive.

Friends keep me close on either side.

I got a feelin’ I might be alright.

I take their hands and don’t let go.

It’s not like anything I’ve known,

But I’m not complaining.

All these bodies close to mine,

But my heart stopped and so did time

When I saw you.

I got my yellow cowboy hat on,

And I’m dancin’ to my favorite song.

Never had my ID checked before,

Wonderin’ what this X on my hand’s for?

Groovin’ to the music,

Sing our hearts out till we lose it,

Then I see your smile from across the room,

Your eyes meet mine and I know I’m doomed.

You break through the crowd to get to me,

Might as well extend your hand on bended knee.

Suddenly your hand’s around my waist,

I take a breath and let my mind escape.

I take your hand and don’t let go.

It’s not like anything I’ve known,

But I’m not complaining.

And your body’s so close to mine,

I’m thankin’ God for being kind when he made you.

I got my yellow cowboy hat on

And I’m dancin’ to my favorite song.

Never had my ID checked before,

Wonderin’ what this X on my hand’s for?

Groovin’ to the music,

Sing our hearts out till we lose it.

I see my friends smilin’ from across the room,

Your lips meet mine and I know I’m doomed.

I may have danced with the devil,

But I’m prayin’ on my knees

That I’ll see your face again

Don’t be a stranger to me please.

I never even got your name,

But how could I forget those eyes?

So if  you’re lookin for a lover,

Baby I’ll be yours tonight.

Cuz I’ll take your hand and won’t let go

You’re not like anything I’ve known,

But I’m not complaining.

I got my yellow cowboy hat on,

And I’m dancin to my favorite song.

Never had my ID checked before,

Wonderin what this X on my hand’s for?

Groovin to the music,

Sing our hearts out till we lose it.

Then I see your smile from across the room,

Your eyes meet mine and I know,

Eyes meet mine and I know,

Eyes meet mine and I know I’m doomed.
